History / Notes

A chieftain of the Thaqif tribe in Taif and a highly respected leader among the Arabs. He accepted Islam after the Battle of Hunayn and returned to Taif to invite his people. They rejected him and shot him with arrows as he led the dawn prayer from his roof, martyring him. The Prophet ﷺ compared his martyrdom to that of earlier prophets.
