History / Notes

Ish-bosheth was the son of Saul who ruled over Israel briefly after Sauls death, while David ruled in Hebron (2 Samuel 2-4). His original name may have been Eshbaal, but the biblical writers changed it to Ish-bosheth (man of shame) to avoid the Baal element. He was assassinated by his own captains. The name represents the shame of the house of Saul and the transition to Davids kingship. It is unusable.
