History / Notes

Better known as **Salim Mawla Abi Hudhayfah**. He was a freed slave and the adopted son of Abu Hudhayfah ibn Utbah. A leading reciter (Qari) of the Quran and a man of great piety. The Prophet ﷺ praised him highly, recommending others learn Quran from him. He was chosen as an imam for the Muhajireen in Medina before the arrival of the Prophet ﷺ. He was martyred in the Battle of al-Yamāmah against Musaylimah the liar in 632 CE, fighting valiantly while reciting Quranic verses.
